lyrics
I can’t even front as if i’m 'bout to get a passing grade
Monuments of homework, but i have to write a rap today
Math’ll wait, algebraic formula to half equate
Exact the day K-Matic may finally be a grad from State
Grab BA and massive stacks of cash with the writing degree
(excuse my half empty ambition) just don’t seem likely to me
Followed heart, majored art, now i’m too hyphy to teach
Finally found my writing style; now that it’s sighted i’ll reach
Out, to the readers, through the speakers of their radio
(you think you’ve had baked potatoes?) haven’t had my gravy though
I’ma crazy caped crusader, can’t nobody save me though
(One phrase at a time), i’mma rhyme and give amazing shows
Praises go through ego filters, but i know i’m good at this
(Raise the bar), i race the car so fast that i could crash it
Catch me on the 48 reciting, that’s good practice
When you see me live, see i’ve withstood the damage
I used to be the underdog, royalty to the undergrads
Hadn’t read the canon but it’s cool cuz all the others had
(Delegated seamlessly), construct the book to wonder at
Can’t keep rest of GPA afloat, (so what, it's mud and ash?)
Double back to fill out forms, beg for all misstepping's cleared
(So much ground to cover) to atone for all the messy years
Grays invade my mane it’s plain to see the shame’ll stress my beard
And when i ask my friends for help, i feel every direction’s peer
Pressure disguised, as parental advice
Tryna compromise my seasons and de-pepper my spice
But i’m chef in this kitchen, i’m preparing the pies
I determine the circumference and i destined the size
Blessed to be wise, lessons from the depths of the skies
Netting the lies, catch em then i’m testing their might
Against my stove, water boiling, fed to the fire
To let em fry, til they’re ready to nourish and to inspire
If Hip-hop was the love of my life, how can i run to catch it?
Never registered for enrollment after that one semester
Try to turn these poems into lyrics so i can pump my chest
Live despite a bleak armageddon that shoulda crushed my breath
(Updating my) prose into flows, so you can bump these sessions
(Talking to the) streetlamp all morning because the sun’s upset
When precipitation is pouring, can’t be the one to fret
Catch the gods’ teardrops on my tongue, to see which one is wet
(I digress), when i gave the lit-ral college try
did i stumble on the hike because i never really wanted it?
Put lyrics together every year to build a monument
Stray climb to top of each mountain and not get off of it
No more time for looking at campus living and haunting it
Gotta move along from the sonnets cuz i got songs to spit
Lemmie tell these stories from my mouth to your ears
Sincerely yours, K-Matic, no silence, no fear.
