Claustrophobia

from Years of Rain by Khemmeta

/

about

His unending expectation sucked the joy out of her. The worst part, was that he didn't realize he expected things, he was just oblivious to so much of reality that it fell to her to navigate. And he was dead weight. What he wasn't oblivious to, he was downright defiant of. He routinely questioned the validity of even the simplest processes. His idealistic skepticism rendered him virtually useless in most situations.

He clearly expected perfection from her, to counterbalance all of his worthless eccentricities. Once upon a time she thought they were quirky, cute, even brave. But now, she could see his cowardice. He refused to deal with anything he couldn't personally quantify. People, ideas, technology. . . if he hadn't "mastered" it, he wanted nothing to do with it.

She couldn't do this for much longer. She can't exist in perfection for the both of them. She resented him for even demanding it of her (even if he was unaware of such a demand). Maybe one day he'd sense the resentment and leave her to adulthood.

about

Khemmeta San Francisco, California

Khemmeta's music strives to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, or are shouted down when they do. His upcoming EP "When I Get To It" produced by Stephonathan (1/3 of both Pride City Purpose & Chedda Guap Boyz) is silly, nerdy, romantic, anti-nihilistic and defiant. He can't wait for you to get to it this [December]. ... more
